About the Author
Dr. Frank Lakatos is a Hungarian-American violinist, violist, educator, and researcher whose work explores the relationship between technique, tactile awareness, and artistic expression on the violin. He currently serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Bucknell University, where he teaches violin, viola, string pedagogy, music courses, and conducts the University Orchestra.
An active recitalist on both violin and viola, Dr. Lakatos has presented solo programs featuring works by Bach and Telemann, as well as his own transcriptions and original compositions. His pedagogical research focuses on developing efficient, intuitive approaches to left-hand technique and fingerboard navigation through spatial and kinesthetic learning.
Dr. Lakatos earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance, with a cognate in Music Theory, from the University of Memphis. A Tactile Map for Violin Chords reflects years of teaching, performance, and research, presenting a practical system designed to help violinists build confidence, fluency, and security in navigating the fingerboard.
