Biography
Hungarian-American violinist and violist Frank Lakatos explores the self-reflective dimensions of the unaccompanied string repertoire through performances that celebrate the expressive possibilities of the violin and viola in solitude. A recitalist on both instruments, his recent projects include the complete Twelve Fantasias for Solo Violin by Georg Philipp Telemann, an all-Bach solo viola recital featuring the Cello Suites Nos. 2 and 3 and the Chaconne, and his own transcriptions and original compositions. Dr. Lakatos is also an active educator, conductor, and guest lecturer whose artistic interests unite performance, pedagogy, and scholarship. He currently serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Bucknell University, where he teaches violin, viola, and conducts the University Orchestra. His guest artist residencies reflect his commitment to integrating performance, teaching, and research into meaningful educational experiences.
