Versatile across orchestral repertoire, Dr. Lakatos has appeared with ensembles including the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra, Williamsport Symphony, New Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic, North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, and Paducah Symphony Orchestra.​
A passionate educator and conductor, Dr. Lakatos previously served on the faculty of Murray State University, where he taught violin, viola, and chamber music, led the University Orchestra, and directed the Quad State String Festival. His conducting emphasizes giving students meaningful access to great orchestral masterworks, empowering them to experience large-ensemble performance at a high artistic level. He also founded Study-Quartet, a seminar devoted to helping adult learners discover and enjoy the art of chamber music.​
Dr. Lakatos now brings his artistic vision to Bucknell University, where he serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, teaching strings and conducting the University Orchestra.​
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Memphis, a Master of Music from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and a Bachelor of Music from Rowan University. His principal teachers include Timothy Shiu, Lenny Schranze, Michael Barta, Lenuta Ciulei, and Barbara Krakauer.​
Dr. Lakatos began his musical journey studying with his father, Frank Lakatos, to whom he owes his earliest training and lifelong love for music.

Hungarian-American violinist and violist Frank Lakatos is an artist recognized for his captivating solo performances, distinctive musical voice, and rare dual-instrument virtuosity. Known for presenting full recital programs on both violin and viola, he brings an intimate, exploratory quality to the stage—often performing his own arrangements, transcriptions, and original compositions. His recent solo work Vers l’avant was premiered by the artist in Memphis, Tennessee, highlighting his creativity as both performer and composer.​
A dynamic communicator of musical ideas, Dr. Lakatos has been featured as a guest lecturer at Susquehanna University, where he presented The Art of Stretching for the Left Hand and performed his own transcription for viola of Paganini’s God Save the King Variations. His teaching and artistic research reflect a deep commitment to expanding the technical and expressive possibilities of string playing.​​
Equally at home in collaborative settings, Dr. Lakatos has enjoyed an active chamber music life. He performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a member of the Rowan String Quartet and later served as first violinist of the Southern Illinois String Quartet, performing masterworks of Beethoven, Brahms, and DvoÅ™ák. His summer activities have included performing as violist of the Southeast String Quartet at the Southern Illinois Music Festival.​
